Should you Schedule a Deep Clean in Response to Coronavirus?
29th April 2020
In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, people have been looking to protect themselves, their homes and businesses from potential contamination. Coronavirus has quickly gained a reputation for clinging to surfaces, with some reports claiming that the coronavirus can live up to 96 hours on surfaces at room temperature. Deep cleaning is therefore a good option when it comes to preventing the spread of contamination at your place of work, ensuring the safety of your staff.
Advice issued by Public Health England states that:
“COVID-19 is mainly passed on by person-to-person spread between people who are in close contact with one another and by droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It can also spread through contact with a surface or object that has the virus on it. Cleaning helps minimise the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).”
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have also recommended the cleaning and disinfection of rooms or areas occupied by those with suspected or with confirmed COVID-19. It is aimed at limiting the survival of COVID-19 in key environments.
This guidance can be applied to any non-healthcare setting such as:
- Waiting Rooms
- Hotel Rooms
- Student Accommodation
- Boarding Schools
