We're half way through National Careers Week 2021, in our last blog we spoke to Ian Macbeth, Fire and Security Supervisor and his 12 year career at Boden, next up is Jasmine Hill, Assistant HR Advisor, talking to us about her career progression and goals.

Can you tell me about your role when you first joined Boden?
I joined Boden in October 2018 as a HR Administrator, I was initially taken on for 6 months. My tasks were to upload of all employees onto the HR System, organise all of the paper files and the general administration work for the HR department.
What skills did you learn during your time as a HR Administrator?
One of the main skills that I learnt in this role is communication, specifically how to communicate with the different people within the business. Organisation is another key skill as a HR Administrator and is something that I have developed more since joining, and I’m always looking to develop.
How did Boden support you in your role and development in your career?
Boden offered me the opportunity to study my Level 5 Diploma in HR Management, which I completed in August last year. I was supported throughout the process and was allowed time to work on all of my assignments, I enjoyed the flexibility and opportunity and look forward to progressing further.
I am currently on a Training and Development Plan that is preparing me for a full HR Advisor role. My qualification was part of my Development Plan and once completed I was promoted to Assistant HR Advisor. As part of this plan I am also picking up more of the complex HR issues and learning how to effectively resolve these. It has been great to put skills learnt and areas covered by my degree into practice.
What is your favourite part of your role?
My favourite part of my job is that I am always learning. The opportunity to constantly expand my knowledge is something that I really look for in a job and is something that Boden have supported me with.
How has it been working during a pandemic and what are your goals for the next 5 years?
I have found working in the pandemic unique. Most of my role can be completed remotely and my department has been very supportive throughout the lockdowns meaning that I have never felt disconnected from the Company. In the next 5 years I want to have completed my Level 7 HR management course and have moved into a full Advisor role within Boden.
