Supervisor – South Region

Boden Group provide general facilities maintenance and construction project work to the commercial sector as well as facilities maintenance services to the Ministry of Defence at multiple sites in the South West.

An opportunity has arisen for a Supervisor to work within our South Region and based in Plymouth. The purpose of the role is to plan and supervise direct staff and sub-contractors so that all operational activities for the main contract and additional works are delivered and KPIs and targets met. The successful candidate will be expected to manage designated teams in all aspects including; H&S, HR, performance and delivery. Although the primary location will be RM Stonehouse there will be a need as required to support all operational activities across the South Region.

Main Duties:

  • Scheduling of work for Operatives and Contractors
  • Reviewing daily timesheets and risk assessments
  • Carry out project work under £25,000
  • Manage planned maintenance, raising and completing remedials and reactive maintenance
  • Schedule supply chain workload to complete HFM and reactive jobs on time
  • Continually monitor all activities to ensure statutory, regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Check workload and request deferrals when required
  • Checking Sub-Contractors RAM's
  • Obtain quotes from Suppliers and arrange purchase orders
  • Arrange hire equipment - cherry pickers, tower scaffold or any other relevant plant
  • Book in and issue parts delivered
  • Develop Continual Improvement Plan for area of concern
  • Carry out site safety checks along with WIP and retro inspections
  • Promote a pro-active safety culture
  • Check Operatives work and performance
  • Undertake PDR’s periodically
  • Identify skills, competencies and training needs of staff to ensure tasks can be delivered
  • First point of contact for Operatives and Contractors
  • Carry out urgent re-active jobs
  • Ensure required forms are completed / delivered in a timely manner (eg EWN’s AP Req)
  • Carry out return to work interviews with operatives
  • Report to line managers on operational performance, improvement plans, provide requested data, statistic and financial information on request
  • Lead by example to adhere to company policies and processes and in support of ISO quality system accreditation

Other Duties:

  • To follow relevant legal requirements and the Company Health & Safety Policy
  • To keep your work area tidy and free from hazards
  • To make a positive contribution to housekeeping
  • Report and address any safety defects DWB reports
  • All required tools calibrated/tested (PUWER)

Key Skills:

Essential:

  • Completed or working towards NVQ in Facilities Management or Supervisory Management
  • Willing to undertake Safety Management qualification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of achieving targets within a budget/fixed price contract

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in either Electrical and/ or Mechanical disciplines
  • Previous experience of working within an MOD environment
  • Previous experience on a FM contract
