Electrician - South Region

Boden Group Facilities provide general facilities maintenance and construction project work to the commercial sector as well as facilities maintenance services to the Ministry of Defence at multiple sites in the South West.

Due to a significant increase in on-going project activity, opportunities have arisen two Electricians to provide their expertise in installation, inspection/testing and commissioning of new or upgraded systems within a building maintenance environment. The candidates will also be expected to support on preventative and reactive maintenance as required. Based at RNAS Yeovilton, there might also be travel to other locations within Devon, Somerset and Dorset and there may also be the occasional need to work at other sites across the South West.

Main Tasks:

  • Undertake the installation and commissioning of electrical installations
  • Carry out electrical test and inspections
  • Fault finding to resolve reactive electrical issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Complete emergency light testing and emergency light repairs
  • To complete general power and lighting repairs
  • General electrical repairs and servicing tasks
  • Able to work unsupervised and on their own but also perform effectively as part of a small team
  • Keep clear and concise written records for use by others
  • Provide information to supervisory and managerial levels to facilitate solutions to problems
  • Consistently produce work to a high standard
  • Complete work in a timely and efficient manner
  • To ensure that all works are carried out to company and client standards, policies and procedures and expectations
  • Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are always implemented and complied with

Technical Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A recognised apprenticeship with relevant experience as a fully qualified electrician and/or an appropriate City and Guilds/NVQ in an Electrical discipline
  • Holds City and Guilds IEE 18th Edition Regulations
  • Holds City and Guilds 2391 or 2395 Testing and Inspection
  • Up to date knowledge of latest legislation
  • Experience of electrical testing

Desirable:

  • Holds CompEx Hazardous and Explosive Area certification (or CompEx Fuel) or is prepared to gain these qualifications
  • Previous knowledge and experience of MOD contracts
  • Previous experience of working in a maintenance environment
  • Experience of performing multi skilled tasks
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing generators or is willing to train for this task

Personal Skills and Attributes:

  • Must be able to gain and retain MoD Security clearance
  • Must have a ‘can do’ attitude and contribute to the team effort
  • Must hold a full valid UK driving licence
  • Ability to plan work activities and order required materials
  • Competent response maintenance engineer who can demonstrate extensive knowledge of wiring schematics
  • Flexible in approach to roles and responsibilities with a willingness to undertake tasks outside their own trade and if required, undertake qualifications outside their own trade
  • Must be flexible towards working at sites other than that at which they are based
  • Able to work on call out rota or outside normal working hours if required
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to maintain excellent client relationship
  • Good time management
  • Focused, motivated and enthusiastic
  • Capable of completing all own paperwork in a clear, accurate and concise manner
  • Computer literate
