Boden Group support NHS Property Services’ refurbishment at Honiton Hospital, Exeter
6th April 2020
Boden Group are delighted to be able to support NHS Property Services during an increased period of pressure by helping refurbish the cottage hospital at Honiton Hospital, Exeter.
Whilst new hospitals are being built in major cities across the UK, smaller hospital wards in the South West are being refurbished as part of a contingency plan to provide more support to the current crisis and ease the pressure from larger hospitals in the area if needed.
Boden Construction are currently providing painting and decorating support to enable old wards which were taken out of circulation a while ago to be temporarily utilised during expected peak times. This supports NHS England’s initiative to make more hospital beds available for the treatment of COVID-19 patients throughout the country.
Lewis Taylor, Facilities Services Manager for NHS Property Services, said: “Our teams have worked incredibly hard to bring the former inpatient facility at Honiton back into a usable condition. With support from Boden Group and other local suppliers, we now have a ready-to-go, refreshed facility. We hope this will help with NHS England’s planning in the event of any additional bed capacity being required in the area. This has been a real team effort and we are proud to see local providers and the community coming together to support the NHS as we face a considerable challenge.”
Lyndon Pegg, Boden Construction Manager commented, “During what is a difficult time for the country, I’m glad that Boden Construction are able to support this important, ongoing initiative for the NHS, with the aim to make refurbished wards available for patients that require care as soon as possible.”
