Boden Fire & Security become certified installers of Evacuation Alert Systems
29th January 2021
Boden Fire and Security, professional fire safety providers, have now obtained a Third Party Certification from the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), for design, installation, maintenance and commissioning of Evacuation Alert Systems.
British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) SP207 Scheme has been developed in response to a recommendation from the Grenfell Tower Phase 1 inquiry report whereby new or existing blocks of flats, with one or more stories located over 18m above ground level, should be provided with evacuation alert systems.
Evacuation Alert Systems enable Fire & Rescue Services to prioritise evacuation from residential high rise buildings to people at risk e.g. particular floors, or parts of a floor in a building, can be safely evacuated. They provide an extra degree of assurance should evacuation be necessary and ensure the signal to leave can be effectively communicated to all within the building. They do not replace fire detection and alarm systems, but are an additional layer of safety designed to support evacuation of those at risk.
Evacuation Alert Systems installed by Boden Group, an approved installer, in line with the recognised industry standard - BAFE SP207 - are certificated with an NSI/BAFE ‘Certificate of Compliance’ for newly installed and serviced evacuation and alert systems. Scheduled service and maintenance visits are usually every six months.
Shaun Herbert, Fire & Security Manager, commented ‘Boden Fire & Security can now offer new and existing customers across the South West a complete evacuation system, from design through to the installation and commissioning stage. We are able to offer evacuation systems to all houses of multiple occupancies, hotels, bed and breakfasts etc. We look forward to improving safety standards and providing an extra layer of protection to occupants in high rise buildings."
