The Great Boden Bake Off raises over £250 for ChemoHero

Last week, The Great Boden Bake Off was held at our Barnstaple offices in aid of local charity, ChemoHero. Founder of ChemoHero, Lisa Wallis, was joined by Keith Regan (a good friend of Lisa and Steve Boden), as well as Boden-sponsored Exeter Chiefs stars, Jack Yeandle and Dave Lewis to judge the entries.
A total of 26 different cakes and cookies were entered into the Bake Off, all of which were sampled by the 4 judges – we did wonder whether or not they’d get through them all, but they did us proud!
Each entry was given scores for taste, texture, appearance. The judges had a tough time judging what was such an outstanding selection of cakes and cookies, however, we’d like to say a massive “congratulations” to the winners:

Grand Winner: Philip Tranter- Sharpe
All runners up were presented with vouchers for a local cookware shop, and the winners of both categories received a place on a cookery course at Petroc. The overall winner, Philip Tranter-Sharpe, was awarded with the fantastic knitted Boden Bake Off trophy (made by our very own Julie in accounts – thanks Julie!) alongside a copy of the latest Bake Off book.
We were blown away by the effort that was put in by every single entrant and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support. The participation was unprecedented and the effort that every single entrant made is hugely appreciated.
A massive thank you goes to our judges for taking the time to make the event so special, and apologise the rest of the Exeter Chiefs if Jack and Dave weren’t quite on form after eating so much cake!
We’re thrilled to announce that the sale of cakes and cookies has raised £263.55 so far for ChemoHero, which is fantastic. We hope that the winners and runners up enjoy their prizes and look forward to seeing what Phil and Sam create on their baking courses!
